Since 1993 James Brook has toured extensively in Europe and Australia both as a solo artist and as a member of punk group Ecowar.
In Tasmania he performed with the Skreech Tramps playing fast paced folk songs of local life and history.
His current, updated set contains songs from different eras of his career; world politics from the streets of Europe, convict seafaring moods from our colonial days plus new themes of Bushfire, Bass Strait fishing boats, Palewa rebels, Italian immigrant workers and the pain of leaving Tasmania for work.
James is often accompanied by other musicians (who appear under the name James Brook & Co) who help to build his set, adding drums, fiddle, mandolins, harmonica and cello. James has now been joined by Rouge on Bass adding punch to the regular set.A seasoned performer who sways a crowd with music of clear reality and earthy emotion.
His latest solo release is "Sound of the Plover".
Recorded in Tasmania, this album of bush/maritime themed songs explores the history both recent and distant Van Diemens land.
Featuring songs based in piano, bright mandolins and acoustic guitar he has created an exciting style of earthy modern indie-folk.
